Britney Spears recently took to the stage in San Fran for a Good Morning America performance to promote her new album Femme Fatale. The pre-taped show went out on Tuesday with Miss Spears announcing her summer tour (sadly only in the US - devvo'd!). Brit also let on that Enrique Iglesias would be joining her for the scheduled dates that kick off on June 17th in Sacramento, Calif. But was the pop princess counting her chickens too soon? It seems so!
Billboard.com confirmed that Iglesias had indeed pulled out of the tour and is choosing to fly solo for the remainder of his Euphoria tour. Enrique's rep released a statement to say, "Enrique has great respect for Britney and is a longtime fan of her work. He is very sorry for the confusion this might have caused to anyone."
So the Spanish crooner has denied the offer of touring with one of pop's greatest stars...you'd think he'd take the opportunity to tap into Spears's immense fan base and promote his album to the full? Seems Enrique would not agree and wasn't overly happy with becoming an 'opening act'. There's worse people you could 'open up' for Enrique!
Don't fret Britney I'm sure there's a whole host of other pop stars that would jump at the chance. The latest name to be thrown in the pot is woman of the moment Niki Minaj (above). The feisty gal is currently on tour with Lil Wayne and has yet to confirm or decline whether she'll be jumping on the Spears train. One thing's for sure, Minaj would make for a much livelier opener than Enrique, pumping up the crowd for Britney's new material which is a lot more dancey than her previous albums.
As long as she eventually brings her tour across the pond she could be touring with Daphne and Celeste for all I care!
