Katy Perry's latest album 'Teenage Dream' has had some mixed reviews. The candy scented follow-up to her debut 'One Of The Boys' has a lot of insiders on the fence, could it be because there's less "I kissed a girl and I liked it" and more "I wanna see your peacock-cock-cock" ? True, the track 'Peacock' drips with innuendo but that's the fun of it, and isn't that what the future Mrs Brand does best? Her songs, videos and style create a bubble of fun that I suspect wont be popped by a few negative reviews. The track 'Circle The Drain' shows a slightly different side to the normal pop-go-lucky sound. There's still attitude there with lyrics like "wanna be your lover, not your f**king mother" but reveals a side to Katy which is more vulnerable and suggests that life doesn't always smell like candy-floss.
She's created a sweet buzz of excitement around this album with her first two releases of 'California Gurls' and 'Teenage Dream'. The first receiving two nominations for the VMAs and four for the upcoming EMAs. Katy was outdone by the almighty GaGa at the American ceremony (no-one really stood a chance did they?) so I for one hope she gets some recognition at the European awards show!
